N°5: Swing jacket, 1938 model for motorcyclists / distressed cotton khaki / rare
A swing jacket is meant to be worn over other clothes. It is usually fairly short, buttons up at the front, and has patch pockets.
This swing jacket in thick-weave cotton khaki is a 1938 model, especially designed for motorcyclists in the French Army. This particular example was made between 1944 and 1947.
The design for this model was based on the Canadian-style three quarter-length reefer jacket.
The cloth has an ultra-dense weave, allowing almost no wind to penetrate.
The strap allows you to tighten up the collar, giving extra protection from the wind.
Its double-breasted buttons are asymmetrical, and are made from wood.
