At Bleu de Chauffe, it is durability that matters. For us, the T-shirt is an item of clothing in its own right. This is why we have created the Heavy Weight Champion T-shirt. The name speaks for itself: like the greatest boxers, it is elegant, agile, and incredibly strong, thanks to the GOTS-certified Oeko-Tex® organic cotton with an interlock knit. The Heavy Weight Champion puts the finishing touch to our wardrobe : a selection of timeless items that we make here at our workshop in the Aveyron region.

Interlock, for a high-tech T-shirt
We wanted to use an interlock knit for our Bleu de Chauffe T-shirt, and we had it made by a family business founded over a century ago in the Somme (Northern France), renowned for their skill and with whom we share common values.
Laurent Malterre from the Malterre knitting workshop explains : “When you want to make a T-shirt, you automatically think of jersey fabric. If you want to make a beautiful T-shirt, you have to make a beautiful jersey knit. And when you want to make something exceptional, you use interlock.”
Interlock is a double-stitch knitting technique that makes a more sturdy, denser weave: you could call it ‘double-texture’. This is an expensive technique, but the expense is justified by the exceptional weight, feel, and quality interlock provides. The Heavy Weight Champion comes in at 250g/m², while a standard T-shirt is only 120g/m² !
This special structure gives superior shrinkage tolerance and a smooth, uniform surface. You will feel the difference as soon as you put on the Heavy Weight Champion T-shirt: incomparable comfort and softness, inside and out. The thicker fabric makes for better durability, making it longer-lasting and resistant to stretching and damage, even after many washes.
Focus on fabric: renewably sourced, certified cotton
One thing which has always been at the heart of our values is the careful choice of materials. We only work with high-quality, superior, environmentally-friendly materials. The cotton used for our Bleu de Chauffe T-shirt is renewably sourced. It is GOTS certified (Global Organic Textile Standard), produced using environmentally-friendly farming methods which do not use pesticides or other harmful chemicals.
The Heavy Weight Champion T-shirt is also Oeko-Tex®-certified: the cotton it is made from has been tested and declared free of toxic substances. Choosing a Bleu de Chauffe T-shirt means guaranteeing that the cotton you wear next to your skin is completely safe and has been produced in line with strict environmental and social regulations. At Bleu de Chauffe, we attach great importance to the origins of our materials and the ethics of our production methods. You cannot have one without the other. Every Bleu de Chauffe Heavy Weight Champion T-shirt is made here, at the workshop where we also make our bags, in St-Georges-de-Luzençon (Aveyron, France).
All stages in the production process are carried out with great care: cutting and stitching each piece, attaching the labels, quality control, ironing, packaging, and shipment… Our artisanal savoir-faire is your guarantee of a high-grade item of clothing with certified quality and traceability.
