Today, Bleu de Chauffe and Drugeot Manufacture have united to create the Amac coffee table, born out of the alliance between two age-old skills, cabinet-making and leathercraft.
The union between these two professions can be seen in every last detail: in the natural feel of the oak, in the sturdy accents of the vegetable-tanned leather, in the harmony of the pure yet soft lines.
A decidedly contemporary style whose design, manufacture, and details are a perfectly-rounded expression of the meeting of these two worlds.
DRUGEOT MANUFACTURE
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Drugeot Manufacture, a French company that grew out of a family-run cooperage, designs and manufactures furniture and other objects in solid oak sourced exclusively from French forests.
In their workshop in Angers, a team of fellow cabinetmakers shapes this noble wood with superior skill: artisanship and modernity go hand in hand, complementing and mirroring one another to create a contemporary and functional style.
This vision is epitomized by the company motto: “originality must be practical; beauty must be functional”. Every single one of their pieces fits into an environmentally-friendly approach: the offcuts are used to heat the workshops and the oven of an organic bakery, and the woodchips are collected by a local poultry farmer.
Beyond mere style, choosing a piece of furniture from Drugeot Manufacture means making a choice to preserve French savoir-faire that has been handed down through the generations with respect for the environment.
RESPONSIBLE MANUFACTURING
Made in France, the Amac coffee table is created from the highest-quality materials, chosen by the teams at Bleu de Chauffe and Drugeot, who are unrelenting in their efforts to generate a positive impact.
In French PEFC-certified solid oak, the wooden top and base are made in the Drugeot Manufacture workshops in Segré-en-Anjou Bleu.
Manufactured in the Vosges region, the exceptional table-top is made from non-pigmented vegetable tanned leather, treated using exclusively natural agents such as acacia, mimosa, and chestnut. It is assembled by the artisan leathersmiths at Bleu de Chauffe in Saint-Georges-de-Luzençon, with their local, priceless, and exceptional savoir-faire.
DESIGN BY FREDERIC SAULOU
Born in 1989, Frédéric Saulou lives and works in Brittany. His studio is an independent and multidisciplinary workshop where objects, spaces, and ideas come to life. Frédéric Saulou’s vision of design is a space for exploration and exchange, with an approach which is open to form and materials.
Experimentation is at the heart of his work: the search for new materials and new uses. He applies this methodology every day, seeing each project as an entirely new form to be sculpted – between simplicity and technicality, artisanship and industrial processes.
