Leather and steel. The skill of the leatherworker and the knifemaker. For this collaboration, Bleu de Chauffe and Forge de Laguiole bring their expertise together to create a distinctive piece: a folding knife with a handle clad in saddlery leather, paired with a matching bell-shaped leather pouch.

Developed together, this creation reinterprets the lines of Forge de Laguiole’s iconic knife. Handcrafted at its workshop in the village of Laguiole, it features a material familiar to our collections: vegetable-tanned leather. Its thickness, feel and subtle shades give the handle a distinctive presence. With use, the leather develops a soft sheen, bearing the traces of the hands that hold it.

Designed and made in our Saint-Georges-de-Luzençon workshop, the pouch takes its shape from a traditional bell-shaped key holder. A simple design, created to protect the knife and keep it close at hand. Its leather cord allows it to be attached to a bag or worn around the neck. A stainless steel loop connects the knife to its pouch, allowing the two to be separated when needed.

Available in Aged Natural, Caramel and Burnt Toast, this set is produced in limited quantities. A piece to use, cherish and pass down, its character growing richer with time.

MADE IN FRANCE

VEGETABLE-TANNED SADDLERY LEATHER

Use reveals the character of the leather.

A signature material of Bleu de Chauffe, our saddlery leather is vegetable-tanned in France, using tannins sourced notably from bark and wood. Durable and full of character, it develops a distinctive patina through contact with the hand.

The leather covering the handle is used at its full thickness of over three millimetres. Each piece is cut to follow the shape of the knife. The edges are carefully sanded and finished before the leather is riveted onto the handle. This precise workmanship highlights both the lines of the piece and the character of the material.

The pouch is crafted from the same saddlery leather. Handle and pouch therefore age together: their surfaces develop a soft sheen, their shades deepen and their feel evolves over the years.

The precision of steel meets the warmth of leather. Two materials brought together in a piece that gradually takes on the imprint of its owner.

A GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION, A GUARANTEE

This knife bears the “Couteau de Laguiole” geographical indication (INPI No. 2404). This official recognition guarantees that its manufacturing stages take place in Aveyron, specifically in Laguiole, where Forge de Laguiole follows traditional craftsmanship. For you, it is the assurance of an authentic Laguiole knife, with a verifiable origin, crafted by local artisans. Each piece carries the legacy of skills passed down through generations.
