The Léon messenger bag is crafted from Japanese selvedge denim woven in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture—the historic birthplace of Japanese denim. An exceptional fabric whose indigo shades, subtle irregularities and distinctive texture already tell a story of their own.
Slow-woven on traditional shuttle looms with a deliberately low production output, this denim develops remarkable visual depth and rare authenticity. Over time, it naturally evolves, acquiring a unique patina that reflects its owner's daily life and movements.
The selvedge edge, woven directly into the fabric during production, is a hallmark of exceptional craftsmanship. More than a technical feature, it represents a thoughtful approach to manufacturing where quality and durability take precedence over speed.
The origins of denim itself also tell a story linking Japan and France. Its name comes from the French sergé de Nîmes ("de Nîmes"), the robust twill fabric that stood the test of time before being reinterpreted by Japan's master weavers.
