As they share our values, Bleu de Chauffe has joined forces with the brand Bonne Gueule for an exclusive collaboration which proves that a new vision of manufacturing is possible. The Viala backpack was born out of the encounter between these two companies.
FRENCH ARTISANSHIP MEETS HI-TECH CLOTHING
We love backpacks we can take with us everywhere. They get scraped along walls, against chairs. They carry everything we need for the day, even if it’s pouring with rain. They need to be dependable. So for us, there is no alternative: it has to be a waterproof canvas that is super resistant to wear and tear. That’s the beauty of X-Pac canvas, popular in the hi-tech clothing sector, and now combined with the artisanal skill of Bleu de Chauffe. The leather straps come from the world of saddle making, not leatherwork; the result is solid leather that will only become more beautiful over time.

Because[af1] there’s nothing worse than scrabbling around at the bottom of your bag looking for something for minutes on end, we have made the Viala backpack totally practical and functional.
As well as the main compartment, this bag has several additional pockets:
- Two outside pockets
- A secure zipped pocket
- A detachable inside pocket
For the closure, we have chosen the Cobra buckle – the most reliable buckle on earth, used by the army, mountain climbers, and the aeronautics industry.

MADE IN FRANCE
Just like all our bags, each one of the backpacks in this collaboration is made entirely in France, in our workshop in the south of the Aveyron region.
DURABILITY
The super strong Viala backpack is made from X-Pac canvas, a material widely used in the hi-tech clothing sector. It offers optimal protection against traction and wear and tear. The straps are made from vegetable-tanned leather lined with felt for optimal durability.
WATER RESISTANCE
The X-Pac canvas used for this bag is completely waterproof, so your belongings will stay dry whatever the weather.
RESPONSIBLE MANUFACTURING
There are no production lines at the Bleu de Chauffe workshop: the Viala is made from start to finish by a single artisan leathersmith.
Each bag has its own story: the story of the artisan who created it, and who has signed and dated the inside zipped pocket.
ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIALS
The X-Pac canvas used for this bag carries the CleenTec seal, which guarantees that it has been manufactured using environmentally-friendly methods. The leather is tanned using natural pigments, reducing our environmental impact and creating a material that will develop a beautiful patina over the years.
THE DETAILS
Cobra buckle: we know that your belongings are important to you, which is why we have fitted this bag with a Cobra buckle – aside from its industrial look, it is the most reliable buckle on the market.
Felt-lined straps: for extra comfort – but also for more durability – the straps are lined with heavy felt, 3mm thick.
360° rotation: the straps are attached to a loop that enables them to turn through 360 degrees in order to fit all body shapes.
Detachable pocket: each of us has our own way of organizing our bag, so we have added a small, super practical detachable cotton pocket.
