Two crafts, one signature piece
Bleu de Chauffe and Forge de Laguiole bring together their expertise to create a distinctive knife where leather and steel meet in every detail. Developed jointly, this creation combines a folding knife with a handle in vegetable-tanned saddle leather and a leather sheath inspired by traditional bell-shaped key holders. A unique and innovative set, produced in limited quantities and designed as a collector’s piece to use, keep and pass on.

Our signature leather,
a new expression
In our workshop in Saint-Georges-de-Luzençon, we make leather bags and accessories with the same attention to function, materials and hand craftsmanship. Cutting, assembly and finishing reflect the artisanal expertise we bring to life every day.
For this collaboration, our vegetable-tanned saddle leather, one of Bleu de Chauffe’s signature materials, takes on a new expression. Tanned in France using plant-based tannins derived notably from bark and wood, it becomes a strong leather whose shades and feel evolve over time. Here it wraps the knife handle and continues into its matching sheath, giving the set the structure and patina that characterize our leather.
FORGE DE LAGUIOLE:
An iconic knife,
craftsmanship in motion
Founded in 1987, Forge de Laguiole continues the art of French knife making at its manufacture in the village of Laguiole. From forging the blades to assembly, polishing and sharpening, every essential step is brought together on site and carried out by hand with precision.
For this joint creation, Forge de Laguiole brings its iconic folding knife and its full knife-making expertise. The redesigned lines, the integration of leather and the addition of a stainless-steel bail create a distinctive interpretation developed with Bleu de Chauffe.
THE KNIFE
The precision of steel,
the feel of leather
The handle, fully wrapped in saddle leather, defines the identity of this collaboration. Used at its full thickness of more than three millimetres, the leather gives the knife a distinctive presence in the hand. It is cut to the shape of the knife; its edges are carefully sanded and finished before being riveted onto the handle. Each step reveals the material and highlights the precision of the assembly.
Made to last, this saddle leather is designed to age beautifully. With every use, it becomes smoother, its tones deepen and a unique patina develops. The knife first carries the signature of both houses, then gradually acquires that of its owner.
THE BELL-SHAPED LEATHER SHEATH
Another connection to the knife
Designed and made in our workshop, the leather sheath is an integral part of the project. Its shape is a nod to the traditional bell-shaped key holder: it protects the knife, can be attached to a bag or worn around the neck thanks to its leather cord.
The stainless-steel bail connects the knife to its sheath while allowing the two pieces to be separated. This dialogue between knife making and leather craftsmanship creates a new way to carry the object every day.
THREE COLOURS
A collector’s piece,
a personal patina
Naturel Vieilli, Caramel and Pain Brûlé: three shades for the knife and its matching leather sheath. Produced in limited quantities, each piece is made to be used, lived with and allowed to develop its own patina. The leather becomes smoother, its tones grow richer and the set gradually acquires its individual character.

A GUARANTEE
This knife carries the “Couteau de Laguiole” geographical indication (INPI No. 2404). This official recognition guarantees that the manufacturing stages are carried out in Aveyron, and more specifically in Laguiole, by Forge de Laguiole according to traditional knife-making expertise.
For you, it is the assurance of a genuine Laguiole knife with verifiable origin, shaped by craftspeople from the region. Each piece carries the legacy of skills passed down through generations.
